Orbena

Caring for ageing parents

Mum’s and Dad’s appointments and errands in one plan — not in your head.

You help your parents or grandparents: GP and hospital appointments, test results, bills, shopping, who’s driving. Orbena turns a text from the surgery or a message from your sister into a plan with the day, the time and what to bring. You check it and save it.

Get Orbena on Google Play

Orbena is now available on Android.

Your parents don’t need an account or the app. Only you do.

How it works

You don’t have to remember it all on your own.

Mum’s cardiology check-up on Tuesday, collecting results on Thursday, and on Friday someone has to drive her to the optician. Add your mum or dad in the app, and every message about their appointments becomes a plan, with the day, the time and who is driving.

So that with Mum, your head is free for the conversation, not the dates.

From a note to a plan

Your note

“Mum has the optician on Friday at 10:00 on Linden Road, someone needs to drive her.”

Who is this for?Margaret

Optician

Friday, 10:00 · Linden Road

Who’s driving? Tom (brother)

In the plan for Friday

  • Write it the way you’d say it

Paste a text message or type “Mum has the optician on Friday”. Orbena suggests the appointment for Mum, and you check it and save.

  • The whole day in one place

Your mum’s or dad’s plans show in Today, and if you have children too, next to theirs. One look instead of a calendar, sticky notes and the family chat.

  • Who’s driving?

Give the appointment to yourself, or to a brother or sister even if they don’t have the app, and send them the day, the time and the address. By default the link shows only “Appointment”, not the specialist.

Reminders about your parent’s plans never show their name or the appointment on a locked screen. For your parent, Orbena helps with the organising: dates, lifts and what to bring. It does not keep their medication, test results or medical records.

How to start

  1. 1

    Get Orbena

It starts with an example: a text from the surgery turned into a plan. Then you try it with your own message.

  2. 2

    Add the person you help

Your mum, dad or a grandparent — a first name is enough. You confirm that you help them. Adding a person you look after needs an account.

  3. 3

Paste a message or record it

A text from the surgery, a message from your sister, a photo of a referral letter or a short voice note. You check the suggestion and save it.

FAQ

Questions carers ask

Do my parents need the app?+

No. Your mum, dad or grandparents need neither an account nor the app — you have it. You can hand one appointment or errand to a brother or sister with a private link that opens in a browser, or invite them into your family in the app.

Does Orbena track medication or test results?+

No. Orbena helps with the logistics: dates, lifts and what to bring. It keeps no medication, test results or medical records, and it does not diagnose or recommend treatment.

Will a reminder show which doctor Mum is seeing?+

No. Reminders about the person you look after show neither their name nor the appointment on a locked screen. A link for a brother or sister shows only “Appointment” by default.

I have children too. Can they be in the same app?+

Yes. Children and the people you look after are in one family, each with their own profile. Today shows everyone’s plans, and for each message the app suggests or asks who it is about.

How much does it cost?+

New families get 14 days of the full app free, with no card needed. After that, one subscription per family through Google Play — no extra charge for the person you look after.

What happens to the information about my mum?+

Information about the person you help — their name, their plans and the messages you add — is used to organise their side of your family’s life. An AI service reads the messages you add to suggest a plan. The privacy notice sets out the details, including that person’s rights.
